Going Green
In today's environment, everyone is thinking about "going green". But how can transportation companies go green when consuming diesel fuel is a big part of what we do in order to deliver service to customers?
The answer lies in using truck-rail-truck intermodal transportation over pure truck transportation as the situation permits. The combined intermodal network of the major Class 1 railroads provides pick-up and deliver coverage to more than 80% of the U.S. population. And it's a proven fact that 45,000 lbs. moved over the rails requires less fuel to be moved than on the highway, especially if the tractor is more than three years old.
At Radius Rail, we're 100% commited to the rail-truck-rail concept and encourage it with full truckload shippers at every opportunity. Which is why we were accepted into the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay Partnership Program in 2008.
